I was going through some old notes on my phone recently and came across some things I had written to my younger self and so I thought I would share them with you all in the hopes it may be helpful to you.
đź’ˇ Your instincts are powerful. Trust them.
Your mom isn’t always right. And doesn’t always know what’s best for you, especially when you reach adulthood. She is human, just like everyone else after all. Life isn’t black and white, and you’ve been gifted with the ability to see the shades of grey in between. That’s not confusion—it’s wisdom. Don’t let anyone convince you that your perspective is flawed just because it’s different and doesn’t fit into a predetermined box. Use it. Let it guide you to help others who feel lost in the noise.
đź’– You are not broken.
You have an incredible soul full of empathy and kindness. That’s not a weakness—it’s your superpower. The world may try to label you, reshape you, or make you question your worth. But you don’t owe anyone an explanation for who you are. You are not responsible for changing their minds. The only opinion that truly matters is the one you hold of yourself.
And no—taking care of yourself is not selfish. It’s survival. It’s self-respect. It’s the foundation for everything good you’ll build. Because you cannot give from an empty cup.
đź«‚ You will find your people.
There will be moments when you feel lonely and that you don’t belong. You’ll wonder if you’re too much, or not enough. But hold on. Your people are out there—those who see you, hear you, and love you for exactly who you are. It’ll take time. It’ll hurt. But when you find them, it will feel like coming home.
🚀 Growth is your birthright.
Grab every opportunity you can, with both hands. Even if it scares the bejesus out of you. Chase the lessons, not the approval. The only person you need to outdo is the version of you from yesterday. Run your race. Your way. It won’t always be smooth. You’ll lose people. You’ll rock the boat. But don’t let the fear of loss distract you from the beauty of becoming.
Because what you’re becoming is nothing short of extraordinarily beautiful, caring and courageous.
You are strong.
You are gentle.
You are kind.
You are brave.
You are resilient.
You are you—and that is more than enough.
